HEY BABES!

OMGOSH, eons since i last blogged here! Haha. Anyway I would just like to write a little encouragement for the juniors who are gonna start their A Div soon. I hope it will help, even if its just a teeny weeny bit. Hehe. (:

Time pass so fast & another year of A div is starting alr! Sorry I didn't go down more often for trainings to help you all =/ BUT! I will be there to cheer you all on! =D I purposely cancelled my only driving lesson in the week so I can watch your match against ACJC OK! haha. (Hopefully when i start driving again I wldnt crash)

Anyway, ACJC has been one of our fierce rivals for the past 2 years (& somehow we always have to meet them). & with each year they have grown stronger with more experienced players. No doubt in experience and skills they may surpass some of us but that does not mean they're unbeatable and it also does not mean they wun mess up during the game. So one of your aim should be to try and mess up their game (& well dun mess ur own game either). When a player gets distracted and flustered, it is usually quite hard to calm down and play properly again.

Looking at the fixtures, I would say that you all might stand a better chance if u you get second in the group. But then again, you never know so just play your best against ACJC and all the other schools. Try to aim for a draw/win with ACJC if you all can. & really play hard. Before the game do your visualizations & tell yourself you really want to play this game and you really want to get a good result.

Psych yourself up and re-run through everything you need to know. Communication, aware of your positioning during 16 yard (attacking/defending) when the ball is on the left/right where should you be. Sticks down when defending. Stay low. Run back to cover. Broad base so you're not beaten so easily. Vision when you have the ball(do not anyhow just hit away esp if u panic!). Running around & FOR the ball(don't ball watch). Short corner defending/attacking. Put pressure when opponent has the ball. Cover your left. Attack on your right. Transfer or pass back if no options in front. Drag right when u have the ball. Mark players on your goalside (i.e be btwn the player and the goalpost). Mark tight,(you must always know where your players are). Be aggressive. And alot more which im sure you all already know.

Yeah, so just don't worry so much about the outcome, but concentrate more on ur game and always remind yourself to focus & what you should do. Don't get distracted by any external factors. & just play hard and enjoy the game while it last. I really hope you all will walk out of the pitch and be happy with your own and as well as the team's performance. Most importantly, play as a team and always encourage each other. (:

Haha. Food wasn't all that nice, and frying squids was a traumatic experience. We ought to find more sotong friendly cooking places to plonk our fat bodies next time! HARLOW GIRLS!

I've come to talk a little abt our handover. =D
It will be held on the BBQ day, so all of you must come ah! Especially the J1s. (11th JUNE, WEDNESDAY)

Anyway deciding the next exco is not an easy task, like how it has always been difficult for all other years and after MUCH MUCH MUCH deliberation, we have come to a conclusion! (FINALLY!)

To the J1s:
Whatever the result is, all of you are still in 1 team, the NJC HOCKEY GIRLS TEAM. This means that all of you should do your part to help the team progress forward and it doesn't matter if you all hold any position. On the pitch, people are not going to see if u can count money, write neatly or wear the captain's band. They see the strength of the team as a whole in terms of teamwork and skills. In a team game, it is not so much about the individual strength and status anymore, but about how the individuals come together and work as one.

I hope all of you will put in your best for next year's A DIV. It will not be easy, but nothing is. Going through so many obstacles and to be able to survive them shows strength, determination, perseverance, commitment, courage and love, for the game and the team. Hang in there girls! It'll all be worth it. ;D

Collar Pin & Next Outing

Hey palsngals, i havent forgot about our nerdy collar pin...

After doing much research, i've found a shop (www.kellicrafts.com) which does really nice collar pins, have emailed them about the pricing and stuff but they havent got back. We need to convince the guys to get it tgt too, so we all can have more savings.

Yup, anw, the design of the collar pin is simple but quirky ok. Its the MSN nerd emoticon and underneathe it writes NJC HOCKEY PALS 'N GALS. Not sure if this is the quote you guys envision it to be but when we were getting excited about making collar pins, this was the immediate vision that popped into my head.

Sooooo, if you guys have strong objections or whatever that you need to voice out, please do so asap as we all want to get our collar pins ready and hopefully by the start of term 3! :D

BOO!

I've just decided to come and disturb after studying for physics which is ugghh. Im not even halfway through and im getting headache alr. Oh wells.

Just to let you all know, we are tentatively having the HAND-OVER next fri on the 23rd May (somebody's special day). Yupp but we can't find a venue yet, so if you are so kind and giving, you can let us know that u don't mind us destroying your house =D. Gee, I can't believe im going to have to step down already. I feel so old, like going to retire then have to step down. BOO! ): haha. but anyway im more than happy to give this title to the next generation of capty-tan!

With regards to the handover, all of you pls send in your suggestions with who you think fits the positions best ASAP k (: We want to know what you all want/think and for the going to retired EXCO MEMBERS! we need a meeting soon! Most probably after most of our papers, which is tues. Bei you can give up like afew mins for it right. =D anyway its only lit. hehe.

Hoky poky, I think its quite exciting to do handovers. Haha. Anyway for the rest of you! Although season has ended, it doesnt mean you all don't play hockey anymore! The J1s should start trng again soon and the seniors, you all can come down during free days to play, like me! HEHE =D

It was really quite fun, after not touching the stick for like... 4 days. Hmm ok that sounds short but feels long for me. Yupp. It'll be great if we all can come down tgt and play with the J1s. As you all know they only have 7 people, which is a very small no. so if we go down to add no.s it'll be good for them too.

OH OH and there's international hockey matches showing on tv now. OMG YOU ALL MUST WATCH! Esp the guys matches. They are so pro! gosh. haha u must watch to know what i mean. If you all don't have cable, i won't mind inviting you all to me lovely house to watch. =D hehe.

Ok, next topic. I WANT THAT BADGE! and beixi can you get it done like fast. Your production is ALWAYS so slow. Come, prove me wrong! HAHA. =D If not by the time you make, then cannot wear to school alr. Must have productive and allocative efficiency ok! If you need help can come find us too.

As promised, its a Friday night and i'm here.

Hai, i guess there's nothing much more to say about our lost. I would not label it as a defeat, it was just a lost because defeat connotes that we're lousier than them, however, a lost is more of a general statement that determines the outcome of a game.

I have been thinking much about what went wrong when things looked so right. Yes, i do admit that we were kind of unlucky, but you can't blame everything to luck, because i don't really believe that luck determines things you lose in life. It is merely an excuse to comfort yourself because the blame is pushed to this factor that cannot be controlled.

Looking back, i personally felt that what hampered our performance was the stress factor. We were all sucked into a mixture of fear of losing when victory is just so close, fear of letting our seniors, supporters, Mr Ali down, fear of a repeat of 2007. We had everything to lose, AC had nothing to lose. We were so sucked into the vendetta of beating them for revenge, winning them for the glory of the podium and the photo on the wall, for the golden ticket that could get us out from this perpetual struggle to stay alive and be supported by the school; that for one hour and ten minutes, we forgot how to play simple hockey, the simple game of stick and ball that we love deeply and passionately about. We were so consumed by the external factors that we simply could not focus and play a flourishing game of deft touches, great passes and all that we've practised during our countless trainings. Its as if going to an exam all well prepared, yet to just lose it all due to your inability to stay calm and focused.

I guess its all part of a learning journey for us, its part of the many downfalls we have to face in life. But guess what, this tumble made us realise how dear each and everyone of us are to the other, and how life simply seems to be so lifeless without trainings or even simply the sight of each other. It makes us realise how little of time left we can spend with one another, before we all set out on different paths to embark our next journey. A win is what completes our dream like experience, we had the best team we could ask for, the best times with one another, the best friendship, scandals, food fest, outings... These intangible experiences outweigh the weight of the medal, a piece of round metal that brought about competition that displays the worst in people. I rather not have something which i could have won with a team i dont feel for, i rather have you guys who will attend my wedding ten years down the road.

The road along had been so tough, we could have gave up and cave in to the obstacles along the way, but we pressed on. They seems so unimportant now, since we've conquer them and all, we too will conquer our sadness and disappointment and move on for greater things in life.

Just like what we had told the guys when they were kicked out of ADivs during their 3 day into the tournament. " Its better to have loved and played hockey, than to have never at all. " :)

Thank You Team 08, for the great times which i would never have gotten to experience if i had been in another school or another CCA.

#2 Vinnie : Oh Vinnie! You din't know my JOY when we knew you finally made it to NJ, i was already ready to attack the PE Dept and CMC when i knew that they refuse to admit you after two rounds of appeals. Thankfully, you made the 3rd round or we would'nt have been able to scare SA with stories about you. Haha. Seriously, thanks for being around to help us out, for giving me confidence in my hits (though not as terrible as Vivien's but still ugh, bad), for always helping us check out if the bubble tea stall is still open after trainings, and for nagging at us to be less noisy because we are seriously a noise hazard to people around us without us actually realising it. Haha, continue to make it a conscious effort to swear less and i hope to see you scare more people during ADivs next year! :D

#3 Pam : Hullo Pam! :D Wa thanks for always rolling on the pitch to out shadow our unglam moments lah! Haha, just becareful you don't become the next potatoe, hehe. Thanks for being there to cook us pasta and bring us food after training, for being better at tidying the hockey store than me (seriously i'm no neat freak), for silkscreening our shirts! Weehee! Haha, not forgetting your motherly-ness, for cleaning up after us, and giving us admonishing looks, hoping we 18 year olds can be less noisy. Its so ironic that you're the most mature amongst us all, when you're the youngest. Haha, i'm sure the next year's batch will be well fed and looked after when we are gone. Pam nurtures man! :D

#4 MarToo : ZHU! Thanks a truckload for being the best candidate to fit into any type of jokes/scandals/inspiration! Hehe, lets see, you have a song to name all your suitors that WE KNOW OF (i bet there are many more hiding out there whom we have not discovered), we have a mar too cheer, a mar too shirt, many mar too/zhu jokes... haha, i think we can even form a mar too fan club to sell exclusive pictures and paraphernalia of your's to all your male fans out there. Hehe. Thanks piggy, for not slacking dispite our whines and continute to give us hell during trainings (come to think of it i kind of miss running now), for scaring the discipline out of me and make me realise that there is so much capacity within which i had not known of. Thanks for failing CTs with me and eating many bowls of fish soup and fish balls and glasses of sugar cane and tau huey with me at Bukit Timah. Thanks for always waiting to take the same bus as me home aft training when you can just take like any of the thousand busses at the bus stop. :D I think you don't know but sometimes when i feel like slacking for hockey, i will think of you, not because i'm afraid you'll scold but because i don't want to let you down. I've told you before i can see that you're really struggling to cope with being the captain and the coach at the same time because as we all know, it is not an easy feat. Hence i want to exclaim proudly to the whole world that you're the best smelly captain we can ever have! You have not failed your job at all despite our inability to attain team goal, in our hearts and im sure in everyone eles who knows of our ardous journey, YOU ARE OUR HOCKEY HERO! OUR MUSCLE MAR! :D

#5 Ariel : Hey pal, nothing more controversial to say, but i guess its really hard for you to cope with AEP and Hockey and i think there is more to your struggle than meets the eye. Hence it isnt really fair to me to be so demanding in your fair share of contribution towards hockey since not everyone prioritises hockey the way i do, i guess you do have to make some sacrifices in life sometimes because it really is the practical decision to do so. All the best in AEP (i know your works are good cause i've seen em') and make your sacrifice of hockey worth it! :D

#6 Puey : OMGOD HORNY CHEEKO PEK! My god you ji hong! Lusty pervert! I can't belive i actually have to endure going home so often with a smelly and tee ko person. Haha. But thanks la PP, with you around, hockey is quite fun because you do and say so many stupid things. Hehe, i still rmber you were one of the first few i met in hockey and i was quite happy to find out you stayed quite close (got someone to talk to on buses home eh!) and was even happier to find out you knew so many of the people i knew. Haha, i guess our social circles overlap. Anyway, thanks for always providing us with the LATEST GOSSIP! I will always remember the good times with susu shooter, auntie tropicana and the various blog hop discoveries. Haha and i rmber the good old J1 days where me you and bernice went around disturbing people and making a nuisance of ourselves, haha... And the time i went to your house (ok more like outside your house) and got you sushi and you got me vitagen. HAHA, AND THE MANY TIMES WHEN YOU WERE LATE AND I HAD TO WAIT FOR YOUUUUUUUUU WAALAU, hahaha! :D Still, without you around, i won't know there's another level to being ji hong! :D Love you and your monkey honey!

Technically speaking, you are the least experienced among us all, since you only joined after our season, but you managed to hold down so many attackers by simply touching them! :D Hehe, thanks for covering my left during long corners, covering my back when i'm beaten, whahaha, i can always depend on you to fight hard to protect our sacred goal and its a really wonderful feeling to know that you're always there to watch my back la :D ohyeah, like what zhu said, thanks a lot man!!!! for contributing so much money to the post season pig out fund! well its about time i posted something...since i've been a ghost member to this blog, not even tagging on the board. Nationals being over a little too early has depressed all of us i'm sure, that i can't even concentrate on that staggering pile of homework just waiting to crush me with its weight, and here i am.

note to all of you: I really am lucky to play with this team, considering i didn't get to play with you all (especially the j2s) last year. and i would say this being my first really real and important defeat hurts real bad. i'm really bad in expressing myself with words, so i don't really have much to say except you guys have made ALL my days in NJC, so stay strong all the way alright? we'll take the hockey world by storm next year!

TO MY FELLOW HOCKERS

To my Dear fellow hockers (:

I guess i shall just do a last post to close our season.

It has really been a great journey for me this past 1 year. Training, laughing, playing and being with all of u have been a great blessing for me. Being able to see you all and training hockey with you all have been a motivation for me to come to school everyday. I can't believe how time flies. It seems like not too long ago when I was given the tough task to lead the team. It seems almost too short, but my time here has ended and its time for the lovely juniors to take over and hopefully get back what we lost.

I won't deny the pain of losing hurts like an infinite cuts to ur heart or maybe its even indescribable. We were so close to getting it, only to lose it all in 1hr and 10 mins. Its even more painful to think that it happened with the same opponent last year too. Seeing their smug faces just irks me, but thats life. There are winners and there are losers, we just happen to be on the losing end. Why you may ask. I myself have no damn idea. Why must i be the one to sit here and cry and not be jumping for joy.

Everytime I think about it, I can't help but break down. Every mention of the words close to it and i get sucked into a daze, hopefully to block out everything. What is worst is if other people can compliment the opponents right infront of my face and make me so pissed off, like being the ones that lost isnt bad enough. Its not because of a certain reason that i feel like crying and pouring out whatever misery i have left, but its just the feeling of being lost. Where am i to go or what am i to do now. I can't turn back to hockey,for the time being, it's just uninviting. The thought of hockey and the lost have been haunting my every waking moment. Maybe you all feel the same way and maybe not. But whatever it is, i guess we have to be strong. Through this, I have actually found many people who really care and I have realise how impt you all are to me. If you would like to put it, it could be a blessing in disguise. Just that the downfall of it is so sucky.

Sometimes i think if there was anything i could do to change what happened, maybe some kind of miracle to make it all better. But the fact cannot be changed, time cannot be rewind, thats the reality of it. I can wallow in sorrow and self pity for afew days, weeks maybe months and years. But in the end im going to have to get over it, just like how all of you will. We have tried and I think that is most important.

I used to wonder what if i hadn't come to NJC, what if i had followed my friends to SA, isnt that such a great thing. I get to play hockey and get at least 2nd and i get to be with my friends! But life has a different path for me and I am happy to be here with all of you. (:

Hockey is such a great sport because it gives you more than fitness and medals. Along the way you get great teammates and friends who light up your day, qualities like determination, perseverance, cooperation, initiative ++ and alot more of intangible gifts.

Remember girls, you are not alone, there are 13 other NJC HOCKEY GIRLS '08 who will be there for you. Before i end i'll just write a little short note to all of you! =D

Dolly:
Hey there girl! Firstly, i really want you to know that you shldnt be too hard on yourself. We all share the blame. Like i've said before, being a goalkeeper is a very important and tough job. I am very proud of you to have taken up the job and to do so extremely well even though you were not very keen on it at first. I admire your courage and your potential. Mr Ranjit and Mr Ali have told me that you are very good. Even such great coaches are praising you, so know that you are good and remember all the great saves you made. There were so many times you saved us and I am so happy to have you in the team. I am really proud of you. <3

Vinnie:
Hey there hyper/fierce girl. Glad to have you in the team. Although you're the newest addition but we still love you just as much. You are a really good player and I feel so fortunate to have you. Just keep working hard ok! For hockey and your studies. Try not to get so pissed off at people although i also do sometimes. I hope you'll have better luck than us next year. Oh and once again, try not to bully me so much alr. PLS! hehe. Thanks for lighting up my days and being part of the team. <3

Pamela:
My Saviour! Haha. Im so glad to have you as my vice and fellow teammate. You're really an angel. I think without you i would have been so lost as to what to do. Being in the team for a longer time, you would know the system better and how things work. Thanks for your guidance and sacrifices you did for the team. And also for playing so hard for all our games, you're really a super defender, im sure you know it yourself (: I hope next year will be a better year for you all. Don't give up too fast. If there is anything, you can always find me for help ok. I'll be here! <3

Ariel:
Heyy there! Thanks for being part of the NJC Hockey girls team '08 and trying to stay with us although you had your own issues to handle. I guess its not easy to be placed with so much commitment, but i hope you are doing alright now. All the best for you studies and your future k (: take care <3

OPY! You're so retarded, you always make me laugh. Thanks for staying with the team despite the fact that you could have easily let go after what you've been through. Im sure it was a tough decision to make and i was pretty devastated when you told us about it. I appreciate what you did for the team and the enthusiam to play hockey. Im so happy to have you in the team i love you alot alot! Thanks for playing hard. <3

Vivien:
Hey PIG! You're another retarded one, just like puey yee. I think you 2 can become very good friends you know. Haha. Although you broke all my rules by coming late and eating unhealthy food but i still wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart for playing for the team. I know you had alot of difficulty picking up the sport and correcting your hits was a nightmare. Even 1 on 1 remedial session couldn't salvage you. But I think you have improved after every game and i appreciate your effort in trying to do well. Not to forget THANKS SO MUCH FOR DONATING SO MUCH $$ TO OUR DONATION FOR END OF SEASON PARTY! =DD Haha. Don't be so pig alr. Love you much much! <3

JIA YUN! Wake up from your autistic world! Haha. Don't look so down everyday ok. You make me feel worried when I see your disheleved appearance. HAHA. Anyway your dribbling skills are really amazing man. Your hands can move so fast and you run super fast too! Its quite cool to just watch you beat 4 or 5 defenders at one go. HOHO. There goes super HOT HOT. (: Anyway thanks for being my great forward buddy! Too bad you din manage to score hat trick and see vivien do her thing. Oh wells, she still owes me one. HELLO!

I just felt like coming here to do a short post and psyche u all up for monday's game! Which will also be the deciding game that determines if we'll be standing at that PODIUM and if our pictures will be on the WALL!

I cant believe we're alr in the MIDDLE of our season. How time flies. It seems like not too long ago when we were still training in our little D with pathetically few pple that it sometimes amount to a date. We used to have so many problems then. Wanna name afew? Haha. Lets see

1) Not enought people. Not even enough to make first 11
2) No money = No coach & No pitch
3) Bad attendence = cannot do much set plays and stuff with each other
4) DSA applicant got rejected

and alot more problems that add up to alot of STRESS! but look where we are now! We've got

1) ENOUGH PLAYERS TO PLAY IN A DIV!
2) A COACH TO COACH US DURING THE GAMES AND TRNGS
3) PITCHES EVERY WEEK
4) SUPPORT FROM FRIENDS AND TEACHERS
AND NOT TO FORGET THE MOST WONDERFUL TEAM YOU COULD EVER BE IN!

HAHA! (: yeahh. We have all that we need, which is each other, so we've got nothing to lose. On Monday, we'll just play our hearts out because we love the game and we love the team. After all the obstacles we've been thru and the tough trainings, we shld work hard for these few hours to achieve something solid that u can bring home and know u'll be proud of. We'll turn these hard work into a shiny medal =D

Don't play like how we all have been playing, play EVEN BETTER, coz i know we're capable of it. Don't you all agree? When u feel the pain of ur lungs screaming for air, don't give up because u should look further ahead of you, not only do u see ur teammates fighting hard for the ball but u see the rewards, of that few mins of pain, that will stay with u forever. I believe that if you really want something bad enough and that you really fight hard enough, you'll get it in one way or another. So lets go out there and play our game and show the world what we're made of! =D

So, the day kickstarted with us all waking up early as if there's morning PT and gathered at the hockey grandstand at 7:30. Armed with truckloads of stuff we need for the well-planned surprise at 8, we hurriedly set up everything and laid low, ready for action anytime.

The planning started way long ago, even before Vivien's birthday ended. (HAHA, yeah, Flea and i conceptualised the shirt pretty long ago) Anyway, we voted for our favourite design early April, and finally settled on this.

So with help from PE teachers, we managed to get the room next to the PE Dept as our basecamp, so as to avoid suspicion of our birthday girl you know!

Excited! We're getting a TEAM BAG! (LIKE FINALLY!) After scouring for hours in Queensway, our Bag Team managed to find a NJ COLOURED DEUTER BACKPACK! (& i tried looking for a picture of the design online but to no avail). Haha, quote unquote the retailer, they say they will give us a very good price since we're buying in bulk.

Puey & Ber, you all want the bag too? Its' gng to be below 80 bucks la, and with some pro hagglers around who polishes their bartering skills on Neopets, we're probably gng to get the best bargain around town. No fret about the size of the hole you're gng to burn in your fbt pockets!

&&& regarding the jersey issue, there are currently 2 fonts avaliable for votting but uh the gap is nothing like Obama & Clinton, so i'm expecting a rather landslide for the font that i'm supporting. Unless miracles happen.

However, the branding of the jerseys hor, is one headache, since we HAVE to have the same brand and type and design of jerseys like the guys, who wants PUE-MA, and AH-DI-DAS, and not AFF-BEE-TEES, i cant go around calling suppliers can i?

& aside from our cheapo but rather nice looking self print hockey tees, you all want to like make proper hockey tees that are printed by shops and would not fade with multiple washings? I would like one! I mean i would probably never get another chance to wear a CCA shirt after this year...

Goodness Gracious & Halloa! Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

I'm here to share the joy with visuals that will definitely make everyone happy (haha or at least Vivien cause there are PHOTOS OF JIAYUN!) Haha, ok so our Saturday Double Date was extremely tiring because we had to lunge big balls around with us everywhere we went to. Tell you, hiking from Esplanade to Raffles City to ROM to Park Mall to Dhoby Ghaut MRT station was a really bad experience! What's more with the cranky weather! Still, we perservered all in the name of Voluntary Work. :D

OK, so after braving rain and storm and collecting a grand total of less than 3 well-wishes on each and every of our ball... we started to doodle on it haha, but after stationing at Dhoby Ghaut MRT station, our luck got better lah :D.

Hey girls!
I hope all of u enjoyed hockey camp 2007 in one way or another. Since we didnt get a debrief before breaking camp, i'll just say afew words here k (: I hope that through this camp, you all know more about the sport, your teammates and what we need to do for next season. Not only that, I hope u have learnt other skills like teamwork, understanding of other teammates and to accomodate to each other, perserverance and so on. Ok, i shant elaborate so much, i am sure you all know what others there are so i'll end here and let u enjoy the pictures and videos that i have from the camp. Haha, i figured our blog was lacking visuals, so i made Flea let me post something interesting up.

Anyway, remembered my idea of having SELF PRINT HOCKEY TEES? Yes! But i'd need you guy's help. You know, Giordano sels roundneck tees right, its going at $5 bucks for one now, but you need to get a minimum of 4 piece to pay that price. So... you guys can like 2 share and go buy the tees ASAP, so i can print for you all.

Ya, since you need to get at least 4 shirts right. So i suggest everyone get a WHITE one and another colour of your choice(really, any colour you like). In other words, everyone need to get 2 tees each, one is for standardising (so we can all wear drng events) and another is for anyhow wear one lah, ok you get what i mean. OK forget it, compulsory everyone must get the WHITE ONE, the another colour is optional. you can get more than one extra shirt also. i don care, you all pay your own shirts ok. Anw, the suggested size to get is XS, (seriously it still rather baggy), so head down to any giordano shop and buy your shirts then pass to me OK! Halo loves, there shall be no post in the language of ahlian-wannabe today, while reading Paulo Coelho's Like the Flowing River (It's a book of a collection of short stories; some his own experiences, stories he heard and thoughts while travelling) i found a piece that i felt everyone of us could connect with hockey, well, its kinda hard to explain but i'm sure everyone of you guys would understand how hard it is to find a good piece of writing that can describe the feeling of learning and playing hockey.

Lemmi give you guys some background knowledge about the writer so you guys can understand the following story of his that i will thereafter share. He's a rather old Brazilian author that is known for inspirational stories, he studied alchemy (but not for pursuit of money) and his favourite past time is archery and walking. The title of the short story is "The way of the Bow", try to displace the image of a bow with a hockey stick, and the release of the bow with a sweep/hit action, and you'd get what i mean.

Bear with it, it's gng to be long.

"The importance of repetition
An action is a thought made manifest.

The slightest gesture betrays us, so we must polish everything, think about details, learn the technique in such a way that it becomes intuitive. Intuition has nothing to do with routine, but with a state of mind that is beyond technique.

So, after much practising, we no longer think about the necessary movements: they become part of our existence. But for this to happen, you must practise and repeat.

And if that isn't enough, you must repeat and practise.

Look at a skilled farrier working steel. To the untrained eye, he is merely repeating the same hammer blows; but anyone who follows the way of the bow, knows that each time the farrier lifts the hammer and brings it down, the intensity of the blow is different. The hand repeats the same gesture, but as it approaches the metal, it understands that it must touch it with more or less force.

Look at a windmill. To someone who glances at its sails only once, they seem to be moving at the same speed, repeating the same movement; but those familiar with windmills know that they are controlled by the wind and change direction as necessary.

The hand of the farrier was trained by repeating the gesture of hammering thousands of times. The sails of the windmill can move fast when the wind blows hard, and thus ensure that its gears run smoothly.

The archer allows many arrows to go far beyond the target, because he knows that he will only learn the importance of bow, posture, string and target, by repeating his gestures thousands of time, and by not being afraid to make mistakes.

And then comes the moment when he no longer has to think about what he is doing. From then on, the archer becomes his bow, his arrow and his target.

How to observe the flight of the arrow
The arrow is the projection on an intention into space.

Once the arrow has been shot, there is nothing more the archer can do, except follow its path to the target. From that moment on, the tension required to shoot the arrow has no further reason to exist. Therefore, the archer keeps his eyes fixed on the flight of the arrow, but his heart rests, and he smiles.

If he has practised enough, if he has managed to develop his instinct, if he has maintained elegance and concentration throughout the whole process of shooting the arrow, he will, at that moment, feel the presence of the universe, and will see that his action was just and deserved.

Technique allows the hands to be ready, the breathing to be precise, and the eyes to be trained on the target. Instinct allows the moment of release to be perfect.

Anyone passing nearby, and seeing the archer with his arms open, his eyes following the arrow, will think that nothing is happening. If yes, then lets not give up and feel dejected if we cannot hit/sweep/push/jig/trap/tap/pass properly, practise more, and we'll soon be in touch with the universe and we can play instinctively. Yeh, & i realise we get so stressed up during matches and games and are so bent on winning that we forget how to relax and enojy the game we love playing, and enjoy every perfect push, pass, intercept, hit. We must learn not only to communicate, but follow our instincts, don't over analyse on the pitch, just play according to your heart, because you've practised enough, its time to immerse your soul with the universe and just give it your best.

Oh man, this feels so chim, i had to re-read the stories in it quite a lot of time before i vaguely gets what it means... well, just something to keep the passion alive! :D

Harlow everyone.
Just here to state some things about trainings.

Firstly there is NO official training until after op exams, but that does not mean u can don't come. I am still making it compulsory unless you have acceptable reasons.

Secondly, plsplsplspls check with ur hockey training schedule before assuming it starts at whatever time you hear/think. If not then the schedule will be as good as useless.

Thirdly, pls be reminded that you should be at the hockey grandstand 15 mins earlier for you to change and be fully prepared before training starts.

Lastly, you all should inform anyone of us if you are unable to come for training, don't just don't turn up and leave us guessing what happen to you, hoping we got some kind of telepathic connection with you or sth k.

yup ok thats all for now. see you all at trng!

p.s bx, take care of ur leg k, make sure u faster heal and recovery and hope its nth major if not... you'll know what happens.. (: and for the others make sure u all don't fall ill! drink lots of h2O!

just here to talk abt sihc and stuff. it was so nice watching all the matches, all those who din go miss such a good show, especially the guys final. australia won india 2-1! they scored at the last second k! super cool. (and no. 5 scored the first goal XD) HAHA! (:

well for those who went to watch, hope you all learnt sth or get inspired to play better and train harder during trainings. be more serious.

Now that everyone has gotten the training schedule there should be no excuse for you all not to know and those who forget or sth. will suffer the consequences! Dun be late for trng, everyone must be there 15mins earlier. and pls dun give me all sorts of excuses to miss training. if you all want to train ,improve and achieve your goals, come for training.

Thanks to Marissa's boliao-ness, i've redempted my reputation of being the most boliao hockey J1 girl. :D Yay! Still, the incentive of redemption is not more than proportionate to the negative externality which was the leading to the build up of a near possible cardiac arrest. This causes a diverence in the MSB and MSC curve, leading to an overall decrease in consumer's welfare. In short, M. Too still deserves to be strangled whenever her presence is made known to us all.

The short mob me and Puey(Ong Susu) launched on Mar was fantastic, i want another try at her neck again.

Anw, the main aim of this post is to inform you all that B&B intends to carry out a mass mugging session comming MONDAY! (which is our study day). It will commence at 8 o'clock prompt in the morning and carry on till the time when the school shuts or simply when you wear out. Bring anything and everything to ask, B of B & B who is apt at EVERY SUBJECT OF HER PCME COMBI (ok, maybe not so much on the E part as she claims), will do her best to help you! (and we can reciprocate the help too! If she needs :D) Well, you get the point. Rest assured we will be disciplined because we all understand how precious time is during crucial periods. It will not be compulsory, come as you please! :D

We'll most likely be at the Mambo No.5 side of the canteen, a few tables away from the hardworking canoeists.

FUN OPEN DAY!

HEY GIRLS!
Today's open day was great! although at first it seemed kinda zzzz, but it became much more fun! i hoped all of you enjoyed urselves too. THANKS to everyone for coming down to help and attracting people to join hockey, (while i went arnd playing other sports XD HOHO!) it couldn't have been possible without all of you. I hope you all have learnt something throught this and bring away great memories with u all. Im sure we made many new friends and learn to understand others better, right beixi? haha.

well this is just the beginning of our journey and i hope to go through much more great adventures with all of you, because that is what makes us more bonded and stronger together! we have the team spirit everyone else will envy! hehe (: I guess this is the last fun fun we'll have before we start mugging hard for promos. I hope and am sure actually that all of you will do well, so that your parents will not ban u from coming to trainings during the holidays and please tell them that being fair in complexion is not equals to being prettier. HAHA! at most just put sunblock or something.

Next week will be our last training before trainings will be suspended. Hope all of you can make it and please take care of your health k. I also hope that all of you will keep fit even though there isnt any training, just one/two hours to go running or something, if you all want we can also just organise to go as a team! =D oh yarh! and if you all want studying session, do tell us so we can arrange it too. From what i remember, the last time i tried it failed horribly. ): haha.

I shall just say it now that i will appreciate it if all of you come down to every training during the holidays because its the most important time period we have, where we try to improve as much as we can as a team; i need your committment no matter how tough it might be and i will try my best to help all of you to the best of my abilities. No pain no gain!

Trainings might seem dreadful when you think of the hours of running and pain u have to go through, but it teaches us the meaning of perserverance and determination and you will really enjoy the feeling of accomplishment at the end of it. When you feel like you're dying and like its the end of the world, fret not because you have the team with you and thats all you really need. (: Hockey is a team sport, our actions affect our 19 other teammates and so we will learn to work together. We must help each other out in every way possible, do not be afraid to ask and do not be hesistant to give. I hope all of you will look forward to training with a happy heart! =D and enjoy every bit of it, remember its not the outcome but the process that matters! gahh there's so much stuff i wanna say and im getting so emo! ): hahahahaha.

anyway anyway, all that matters is that u have a burning passion for hockey and everything else will fall into place alright? (: i have faith in you girls! we'll show them what we can do! we will have achieve success if we've put in our best! no matter the outcome girls, i still love all of you lots and lots. Thanks for making NJC Hockey Girls (Nerds) team a wonder to be in and to have more great adventures to look foward to!

Hi all,

PANIC PANIC PANIC. Our banner painting session today was super uh, slow. We're not performing at optimum output level! At the rate that we're going, we're gonna close down soon cause we're making sub-normal profits.

We would need help photocopying and sticking up posters around STRATEGIC locations in school. We also need to chop banner areas and hang up our banners. SO SO SO, anyone free on thursday pls come down and help ok.

Long time since i was here. Wanna thank ALL the girls and guys who had came down to help do the souveniors and noticeboard in one way or another! :) We have a banner painting and sticker drawing and namecard writing and eraser pitch drawing session coming TUESDAY, so please come along too if you have time to spare! :D Same thing, meet at grandstand's hockey area once you're done with class/free. We need all the extra pair of hands we can get!

Anyway, i SERIOUSLY think that we do not have enough pencils, so... if someone is going to you-know-where soon, please go get MORE of them! & also, due to high QC, many of the pencils written with ugly handwriting and crooked smiley faces have been rejected, so please... MORE PENCILS! (we can stock up for next year's CCA day too)
